A welcome return for face-to-face care home visits
Care home residents will once again be able to hold hands with a loved one thanks to an easing of coronavirus restrictions which comes into force on 8th March.
Visits through a screen have continued throughout the recent lockdown thanks to our visitor pod facilities, but this is the first time since Christmas that residents will be able to be in the same room as a loved one.
Under the new rules, each resident can nominate one person who will be able to visit them indoors, without the need for a screen between them. Their visitor must have a rapid LFT (lateral flow test) when they arrive, and if this is negative, they will be able to enter the home wearing full PPE.
With these precautions in place, resident and visitor can hold hands, a welcome yet cautious return to physical contact with a loved one, which we know can be such a comfort to our residents.
The good news is that these new indoor visiting arrangements are in addition to the visitor pod set up. This means that as well as face-to-face time with their named visitor, a resident can continue to see additional friends and family through a clear screen, allowing them to keep in contact with more people.
All of our residents and care home staff have been offered the Covid-19 vaccine, making our homes the safest they have ever been in the face of the coronavirus pandemic. Vaccinations are not a condition of visiting, so do not worry if you have not yet received your Covid-19 vaccine.
We look forward to welcoming visitors back to our homes in line with government guidelines, and we know that our residents will be delighted to see you.
Please contact the care home directly to make arrangements for your visit. You can find information and contact details here.
